IP Petrol Station Locations Dataset – Italy

IP (Italiana Petroli) is the largest Italian-owned fuel retailer, having significantly expanded its network through the acquisition of TotalErg and ESSO assets. It is a cornerstone of the Italian road network, offering diverse energy services and the popular "IP Box" loyalty program.

There are 5,060 IP Petrol Stations as of 7 July 2026 in Italy. This dataset is compiled and maintained by Geolocet and provides a complete, geocoded list of all IP locations, including full address details, administrative divisions, and precise WGS84 latitude/longitude coordinates - structured for GIS, retail analytics, mapping, and AI/RAG workflows.

Dataset Methodology:

This dataset is compiled from publicly available business listings, official company sources, and geospatial validation workflows. Automated quality checks and manual analyst reviews are applied to improve coordinate precision, address standardisation, duplicate detection, and overall analytical consistency.

It is periodically reviewed and updated to reflect known network changes, closures, relocations, and newly identified locations.

Regional Distribution Breakdown

Looking at the geographic distribution, the highest concentration of IP locations in Italy is found in Lazio (664 sites, equivalent to 11.64 IP petrol stations per 100,000 residents). This is followed by Lombardia (660 sites; 6.58 per 100,000) and Puglia (441 sites; 11.38 per 100,000). From a market-penetration perspective, Umbria has the highest brand density at 21.53 locations per 100,000 people (population: 850,000), making it the most saturated region for IP in Italy. By contrast, Sicilia records only 3.79 locations per 100,000 residents (population: 4,830,000), indicating a potential white-space opportunity for network expansion or competitor analysis.
