Biga has the most units (123, 19% of all units in the province), and Bozcaada has the fewest (2 units). The provincial centre municipality (il belediyesi) lies in Çanakkale Merkez, and each of the other districts has one district municipality (ilçe belediyesi). Çanakkale also has 11 town municipalities (belde), most of them in Biga, Gelibolu and Lapseki (2 each).
